What can I do to speak English fluently and let the children to speak English fluently?
Identification of problem
Though our School has started English medium from 2012 many of our children can not speak English fluently
Questions
Why do children can not speak English fluently?
1. What should I do to improve my fluency in spoken English? (For me)
2. In which skills ( L,S,R,W,V,G or all) should I focus in order to improve fluency of students in spoken English?( For me)
3. Do your children speak in English with you? ( For parents)
4. What are the steps taken by you regarding this issue? (For parents)
5. What are the steps taken by you regarding this issue? (For colleagues).
6. What do you expect to improve fluency in spoken English? (For students)
7. How do I use technology regarding this issue? (For me)
My opinions
1. I should focus in L,S,R, and Vocabulary skills to improve fluency regarding spoken English. (for me)
2. I should focus in vocabulary skill in order to improve fluency of my students in spoken English. Because one will get vocabulary skill if they are good at LSRW and vocabulary is must for spoken English.
3. Moreover, vocabulary gets prior role in communication. Though one doesn't know grammar, proper pronunciation etc., can communicate with others.
Preliminary activities before Pre-test
As this is pandemic period of COVID19, children are not allowed to schools. So, possibility to meet students and their parents is very low.
Because, some of them went away to their relatives residences due to irregular income. Some of them are shifted their residence to somewhere temporarily.
Many of the parents are being idle in WhatsApp group. So, I called them individually and to view my postings (regarding spoken English) and calls for online class through ZOOM meetings.
Afterwards, I want to convey about the purpose of exploratory research. So, I sent voice messages for parents and children seperately both in English and in Tamil. Voice message for children is the set of 10 questions as pre-test (Diagnostic test).

I told them to answer my questions independently. Whether the answers may be right or wrong, but should not be depended. And thier answers should be as voice message and be sent to my individual WhatsApp account.
I posted this question paper for my class children's convenience, if they could not understand my voice message.
Data collection
I posted this audio and text messages in class WhatsApp group. 10 children only responded to my questions. From these 10 students survey (sample survey) we can know the level of children regarding spoken English.

🖕From 10 children, 2 of them are having good comprehension and response. 6 of them are average in capability. Remaining 2 have low comprehension and response.
And about their willing to speak with whom. 4 of them like mother, 3 of them select friends, 2 of them select teacher, only one select father as first option. This shows children like their mother than any of others. It's common. But, the teachers have to educate mothers also in order to improve children.
And in order to improve vocabularies, children select story books with pictures as their first option (5 kids). 3 of them select Cartoon CDs, 2 of them select rhymes. So, children like stories with pictures even now. But this is not universal and final.
Conclusion
I felt that to develop spoken English skill, children should have practice not only in class, but also in house with the help of mothers. So, I have to work for mothers also. And it's a challenging one to me. Because, in my zoom class, some fathers didn't like to attend mothers with their children (in online class). And it's better to use story books as a tool.
